The Maldives is a nation of 1192 small islands located within the Indian Ocean, surrounded by some of the world’s most beautiful shades of blue water. Seriously, the water is so beautiful it is hard to imagine that it’s real! Maldives is most famous for its private island, overwater villa boasting, ultra luxury resorts. Often requiring a boat transfer or even seaplane to reach after landing in the capital city of Male, you are off to a truly isolated and relaxation inducing paradise. The Maldives is also home to an incredible amount of marine life. Simply snorkeling outside of our room, we swam with baby sharks, manta rays, turtles and many fish that I could not begin to name. That being said, it is no surprise that Maldivian cuisine focuses heavily on seafood, while also incorporating coconut and starches. The Maldives is often seen as a high budget destination, and while we won’t deny that it isn’t cheap, you will be left with a unique experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.
